Sarah BolamSarah Bolam

Sarah Bolam has over 20 years’ experience in travel PR, and founded Sarah Bolam Communications in 2010.

With exceptional media contacts across the board, from editors, travel editors and writers to trade publications and bloggers, she has particularly strong experience in the luxury sector. She also has a wide range of contacts across the travel industry – including airlines, hoteliers and tourist boards. Her combination of in house and agency experience has enabled her to develop an in-depth knowledge of the travel industry, with a commercial edge, along with an expertise of delivering successful campaigns for a wide range of clients.

Prior to setting up Sarah Bolam Communications she was Head of PR for Elegant Resorts, Thomas Cook Signature and Cresta, a role she moved onto from her previous position as Head of PR at leading long haul tour operator Kuoni Travel. She was at Kuoni for five years, where she oversaw a team responsible for media, internal communications, crisis management and filming projects.

Before joining Kuoni, she was a founding director of Synergy, a specialist travel PR and trade representation company. Here she was responsible for the PR division of the company, which she built up from a team of two with an initial client base of Kuoni Travel and Taj Hotels, to a team of 10 – with clients including Club Med, De Vere Hotels, Whatley Manor, Anheuser-Busch Adventure Parks and the Ultimate Travel Company.

Sarah started her PR career at The Communication Group, a leading consumer, corporate and lobbying company, where she worked across a variety of consumer and travel brands including Necker Island, The Virgin Hotel Collection, Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons, K’Nex and Sooty. She then joined BGB&Associates, where she honed her specialist skills in travel PR working on accounts such as ITC Classics, International Chapters and Sheen Falls Lodge.

Sarah also has experience in crisis management, having overseen the PR and communications at Kuoni during the tsunami and during other incidents ranging from natural disasters and security issues to industrial action.

“Sarah is the complete PR: great contacts, great company, great understanding of what makes a story. In fact you could introduce a new verb… BOLAM [vb tr] To carry off with the utmost skill, efficiency, competence and charm. eg ‘Don't worry about that trip/coverage/feature. It’s being totally taken care of; I'm having it Bolammed’.”
Ed Grenby, Editor, Sunday Times Travel Magazine

“I have worked with Sarah for more than a decade. During these years, she was responsible for the PR and promotion of some impressive brands, including Kuoni, Kuoni World Class, Travel Collection, Voyages Jules Verne, Kirker Travel, Journeys of Distinction, Elegant Resorts, Thomas Cook Signature, Thomas Cook Tours and Cresta.

“Sarah is pretty unique in my opinion. Personality wise, she fizzes and bubbles enthusiasm and passion for what she does. She's a very skilled PR professional with outstanding and longterm contacts amongst the UK travel press and industry at large. She has a knack of making everyone feel at ease - her natural warmth and empathy bring out the best in people and she's a joy to work with… I would entrust any element of PR to Sarah with 110% confidence.”
Sue Biggs, Director General, RHS (Former MD, Kuoni and Director, Thomas Cook)

“Sarah and I have worked together for several years on various PR projects as well as day to day PR. Her down to earth, hard working approach is an asset to us and has proved invaluable to Simpson Travel over the last 18 months as we launch more PR initiatives than ever before. Sarah’s knowledge of the industry and who’s who is second to none and her logical and patient approach (not to mention her sense of humour) make her a great consultant to work with.”
Alison Scott, Commercial Director, Simpson Travel
